Cretan Food Recipes

Cretan food enjoys fresh and dried fruits, legumes, local wild herbs, aromatic plants, and grains. Wonderful cheeses and yogurts are abundant as well as the famous staka and stakovoutiro. Crete has beautiful savory pies, stews, fish and seafood dishes as well as special meat dishes. Cooking is done with Cretan olive oil but staka and stakovoutiro are also deliciously used. For dessert yogurt is paired with fresh fruits and nuts, and traditional pastries are enjoyed several times a week.
